CHALLENGE
The co-founders of SoilDAO tasked me with creating a one page website and new logo to get them started in their quest for their first round of funding. SoilDAO’s strategy utilizes the power of the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) governance model and Web3 Utility NFT art to obtain land assets and stewardship rights. My job was to present their plan and information in a visually and functionally pleasant way. This is an actual working version of the landing page.
The Problem
Our Soil is going extinct, and so is our food.
Modern industrial systems treat land as a resource to be owned, mined, sprayed, and sold. We’ve stripped the Earth of life—carbon, nutrients, spirit—and replaced it with concrete, chemicals, and control.
From forests to farmland, sacred land is being bought, sold, and centralized by banks, corporations, and governments. This self-destructive path has brought us into the heart of the sixth mass extinction.
The result? Soil extinction. Collapsing ecosystems. Over 100,000 species vanishing every year. And most tangible for you:
Depleted soil = Depleted humans
No soil = No food.
According to the FAO (2022)
We are losing 24 billion tons of fertile soil each year. We are destroying topSoil 10-100 times faster than nature can regenerate it organically. Global soils store more carbon than the atmosphere and vegetation combined, but degradation is releasing it—accelerating climate instability.
According to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)
At current rates of degradation, fertile soil will go extinct in 2070. In addition, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that by 2045, food production will drop by 40%. This leads to in every measurable way the most pressing problem we are facing as humanity today…
